Phuket Revisited

Today we fly from Bangkok to Phuket , we will spend the last days relaxing in the Dusit Thani.

Wake up at 8 and it is raining (we expected it as it was raining in Hongkong and Singapore last night). But it miraculously ceases when we come down for breakfast.

Packing again, breakfast outside this time, it is very humid and the air in Bangkok is horribly smoggy.

Departure at 11.20, long ride to the airport, there is so much traffic in Bangkok.

Smooth checkin, we have each 4 kg too much, uneventful flight to Phuket.

The Dusit Thani is part of a big resort complex Bang Tao Bay (Sheraton, Banyan Tree etc.) north of Patong (a 30 minute drive). It is a lovely place to relax for the next 4 days. Nice garden, ponds and lagoons abound, softly lit at night.

Room with a View

We have a room on the 2nd floor about 30 m from the sea, but we feel safe, they have built a Tsunami waraning tower close to our room with huge antennaes and loudspeakers .

We go for a first swim in the sea, those moskito bites burn like hell. Jellyfish? Better not. Yes, Rebecca was right, the following day she saw them!

Dinner at 8.15 at Ruen Thai , lovely teak house situated on the lagoon, beautiful wooden architecture, reminds me of this book by Vern Sneider of Captain Fisby and his geishas

We picked our favourite Thai dishes: Rebecca had a Massaman curry and I a lovely green chicken curry. Here are my recipes for the Late Bloomers Thai Green Curry Paste and the Late Bloomers Thai Green Curry Chicken.

Lovely food, lovely scenery, very serene, a perfect evening.

We join our friends at the Casuarina’s for a nightcap.
