Phuket II – A Time to Celebrate

Today is Valérie’s big day.

I enjoy the early morning on the balcony, watching the gently breaking waves.

We have breakfast outside, next to the ponds which abound with fat goldfish. Sparrows, pigeons and jays (if that is the name for those cheeky birds with their bright yellow beaks, they are resourceful and proud birds).

Goldfish

I will not tell you how to attract them!

With Kittipon and Walti we go shopping for Valérie’s birthday gift, we only get a little bit carried away. Canal Village (lovely stuff by Jim Thompson, they have two shops, make sure to check the outlet shop on the left side first. Read more about Jim Thompson here.

With the resort shuttle bus we continue to the Banyan Tree Hotel, lovely shop, great for souvenirs, I can also recommend to go there to the bar for a nightcap, they serve a lovely grappa and the staff is very generous.

Lazy afternoon on the beach, it is vey hot, we enjoy fresh lovingly prepared pineapple and mango.

We all meet at 6 pm at the Casuarina’s, a beautifully decorated table awaits us:

We have a gorgeous barbecue on the beach, we gorge ourselves on rock lobster and prawns, lovely sauce to go with it (chili, coriander, sugar, vinegar, lime). Nice Chardonnay from Washington, DC.

Cannot get enough of it!

We arranged for paper lanterns and sent them off accompanied by our good wishes into the night sky. Bautiful!

A lovely evening which we finish in the music bar next to the lobby.
