Summer Bounty

What do you do when summer is here but it does not feel like summer? At least, here in Switzerland, it looks like early autumn, temperatures down, no sun, grey skies, wind, rain.

I go shopping for food and start cooking, for me this is sheer meditation:

Prunes

Prunes are early this summer, we are still in the middle of the school holidays.

I do not eat a lot of jam, except for apricot jam which I combine with a lovely seasoned Appenzeller cheese. I have friends who swear on a combination of raspberry jam with Greyerzer cheese. Have you tried that yet? Taste it, you will be surprised how well the sweet taste of jam goes with cheese.

I decided to go for a mild chutney, here is the recipe for Late Bloomers Prune Chutney.

nectarines

Different story with the nectarines, here I wanted something hot in contrast to the low temperatures outside.

Here is the recipe for the Late Bloomers Spicy Nectarine Chutney.

Guess what I did with the tomatoes? No, not another chutney, I made my slow cooked Tomato Ketchup, here is the recipe for Late Bloomers Tomato Ketchup.

Supposedly the Dalai Lama has once said: dedicate yourself completely to love and cooking (if anybody knows the exact quote I would appreciate it – thanks). I dedicate all my love to cooking.

PS. And you know what, cooking is really magical: the weather has changed and it is summer again!
