Dare To C.A.R.E. – A Challenge by Al Smith
I was really touched (and prompted into taking action) when I read Al’s latest post.
Go there and read it, please, before continuing here!
DARE TO CARE CHALLENGE THROUGHOUT THE MONTH OF OCTOBER
Is Al Smith not a powerful and convincing man? Would you not do everything for him? He sure lit a fire under my behind!
Probably we all try to be positive, but sometimes our good intentions get swept away by our daily routine and workload. Or a rude person jumping the line in a shop.
“When patterns are broken, new worlds emerge” – Tuli Kupferberg
So, why not break this pattern of swept away good intentions and be consciously and consistently NICE to yourself and those around you?
Smile at that rude person, leave out any ironical and sarcastic remark, guaranteed it would get you some laughter, but in the end the irony and sarcasm are directed towards yourself.
I was brought up to be polite and courteous, to be helpful towards others and say thank you every 5 minutes. In spite of rougher times I still adhere to these principles and when asked “But why, people take advantage of you”, I reply “this is ok for me, their problem not mine.”
So, after reading and thinking about Al’s challenge it induced me to pledge the following: during the month of October I will consciously adhere to his principles of
• Communicate better
• Appreciate more
• Respect others
• Encourage everyone to do the same
I will bring a positive attitude to work and have one at home, too. I will smile at people and be nice. I will be optimistic and have enthusiasm. I will let go of all resentments and forgive (myself and others). I will ban any feelings of pessimism and negativity.
I will report my progress on my blog, post on FB, Twitter, I will mail this post to friends (why have you not subscribed yet?).
Dare to care and share!
Do you care? That is where you come in: share your experiences on your or my blog, RT, post on FB, mail, spread the word. Let the initial spark turn into a powerful fire!

@Al Smith Al, thanks so much for your heart warming words. This is my pleasure as I have become very much (more) aware of my behaviour towards other people.
