A Day In The Life … Some Studies And A Hilly Town Walk

Day #21

This morning after I had finished labelling all my jars with the “old” labels, I started the InDesign tutorials.

For years I have wanted to use InDesign, the DTP software by Adobe Systems, but it costs a fortune and I doubted I could use its full potential (hell, I do not even use 5 % of my mobile’s features …).

Earlier this year Adobe offered a rental deal, you pay a monthly fee and get the full use of any module you choose. And all of a sudden it seemed feasible for me. BTW, Adobe does not pay me any provision for mentioning them a gazillion times here.

It is still a book with seven seals for me but I am rather tenacious and I will master it.

I have ideas for my labels, brochures, flyers and stickers for Late Bloomers products and I hope that InDesign can help me enhancing it.

To be honest I did not get very far but a beginning is a beginning. And after all that studying I needed a break and some fresh air!

I went into town for the weekend food shopping and on my home I went for a walk in the medieval town centre.

Starting with the town hall next to the market square and going inside the courtyard to admire Basel’s founder, Munatius Plancus, high on a pedestal:

Do you know we have mountains in Basel? Well, they are not really mountains but hills (Rome comes into my mind, the capital that is built on seven hills).

The most famous is Spalenberg, with its lovely shops, jewellers, galleries, fashion shops. I remember that there were at least two butcher shops and several food shops decades ago.

Coming up Spalenberg from the market square, somewhere near the top a road leads off to the right, Nadelberg. I used to live here in three different apartments (not at the same time). Strange to call it Berg (=mountain) as it is really very flat, see for yourself below:

At the top of Spalenberg there is another “mountain”, Heuberg, going off to the left. Can you feel the Mediterranean atmosphere? Even olive trees will grow here!

Day #21 Balance is everything! And some stamina for all those hills!
