I’ve Been Waiting For So Long

No, this is not a case of love sickness.

I am sick of winter, low hanging clouds, snow and rain, low temperatures – I want light and sun, bright colours, lighter clothes.

Cherry trees in winter (NO, the date was April 3)

I want my energy back, my batteries recharged!

Is there any hope?

I want to see new life emerging: buds, flowers, fruit. Dig my hands into moist and rich soil toplant new life and watch it grow.

Last year the cherry blossoms were out weeks earlier, now we still wait:

April is fooling and teasing us with outbursts of summer:

Only to settle back with a deep sigh to the known.

  1. Hi Barbara! You capture the way most of us are feeling in this nearly-spring season. There really should be five seasons with an “nearly spring” in there for accuracy. We too have been teased a few weeks back. Shouldn’t we remember now that its the way it happens? But we forget, peak too soon, as my husband says, and become disappointed. But with every day we do get closer to the actual spring! Hang in there!
I love your photos by the way, especially the last one! We don’t have magnolia trees here but they grow in Halifax where I went to university. They might be in bloom there now. I don’t know.
    Hugs!

    1. @Lori Hi Lori! And guess what: today turned into a perfect spring day and tomorrow will even be better! But no illusions: Saturday will be grey and rainy again. Where have our seasons disappeared to? Winter one day, summer the next. I remember when as children we were anxiously waiting for the first time of putting on knee socks and getting rid of the scratchy woolen tights.
Oh well,I prefer flip flops anyway!
Quite a spooky picture, is it not? Like it will disappear any moment. Thanks for your lovely compliment, very much appreciated.
      Hugs, Barbara

      1. @Late_Bloomers  @Lori You just never know, do you! Here, too, it was supposed to be cloudy and rainy until the weekend and yet I see the sun shining on the grass! Maybe we’ll have our coffee on the red patio after lunch today!

  2. Oh boy can I relate!  This long dragged out winter/spring is sapping the energy from my very core.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your gorgeous photography!  You are a gifted woman, my friend!  Hang in there…the sun and it’s warm rays will wrap around you soon….

    1. @SocialMediaDDS Hi, dear Claudia! You make me blush, thank you so much! I am sitting here on my sofa with a warm cashmere shawl warming me (I knitted it myself btw), not sure whether it is another cold or hayfever …
Looking forward to tomorrow’s lunch outside in a Thai restaurant with family and friends, at least we are keenly aware of the few hours basking in luxurious sunshine and I will take pictures to remind myself how it looks like!
      xoxo

  3. Well, don’t despair. I can only tell you what happened in London. Spring came overnight, completely out of the blue. Gone are the cold days and the winter blues. I love it. It will happen. It simply has to!
