Day #25
… I did not post yesterday, was my busy schedule: candle making for all the autumn and winter events.
Funny how I go by the seasons: lots of cooking and preserving in late spring and summer, candle and soap making in autumn and all the beautiful chocolate products in winter.
I need to be well prepared and well stocked. I source most of my supplies from Canada and it takes ages for the goods to come here by sea freight. I would not want to pay the horrendous airfreight charges which come up to 4 times the value of the goods.
I started making organic soy candles five years and composing my own fragrances three years ago. I might have had some skills but it takes practice and discipline to hone them.
candle making with the wick fixer
Quote often I am asked why I do not make a video showing the method. Believe me you do not want to hear me exclaiming (it is not the same as swearing, is it?) when that darn wick will not stay in place!
nearly finished and ready for packaging
Checking temperatures all the time, the right one for melting the wax flakes, the right one for adding the fragrance oils and finally the right one for pouring the mixture in jars.
warmth and fragrance for the long and cold winter nights
You want more? Here is some self promo: check out Late Bloomers web shop for more candles, soaps and diffusers – thank you!
Day #25 Mighty pleased with my work of the last two days!

You are so talented! I can imagine the beautiful scents from here, and I do love candles. And sourcing your supplies from Canada? O Canada 🙂 Cheers! Kaarina
I imagine your home smelling so lovely all the time, with all these candles and yummy cooking going on…hmmmmm…….
This is absolutely gorgeous! Well done you, Barbara! I wouldn’t have the patience to do something like this!
KDillabough Hi Kaarina, I hoped to catch your laugh when you read this! It is ludicrous but the best supplies do come from Canada (it is an Australian company!). More the reason for a trip to lovely Canada, no? And I could bring some candles …
You make me blush, I simply do what I love and the common denominator is my olfactory sense. Maybe I should work on my self-confidence!
THANK YOU!
jpage.manuel Hi Joy, oyoyoy, you should see the chaos reigning in my household right now! But it is true, the smells are ever so tantalizing (if not overpowering when working with pure essential oils) and my neighbours think I am always cooking Indian food! Thank you so much! And with all the cooking and candle making I am even more behind with catching up …. my apologies!
Sounds like fun. But the kind of fun that is only felt after everything is done! Beautiful candles!
