An Unexpected Gift At The Right Time

Thank you, Janine Ripper, my dear friend, you cannot begin to imagine how much this award means to me: a soft kick in the butt that I am a blogger and not a dreamer (or maybe a dream blogger?). And thank you for thinking me inspiring, we all have our moments of doubt (or are otherwise busy / preoccupied).

The Dove

This award comes with conditions: share 7 of your favourite phrases, reveal 7 little known facts about you (hell, I am an open book, please tell me whether I succeeded in surprising you) and, finally, pay homage to 7 bloggers who inspire you.

Here we go:

7 Favourite Phrases

Live your dreams, do not dream your life.

Fail to plan, plan to fail.

Live in the moment.

Do you want to be happy or do you want to be right?

Time is just an illusion (Einstein)

All that we are is a result of what we have thought (Buddha)

And one of my childhood phrases:
Better to have a sparrow in your hands than a dove on the roof.

7 Little Known Facts About Me

I am addicted to trashy novels.

Speaking about addiction: I smoke and drink coffee (gallons).

And one more: I am addicted to Freecell.

I tend to fall asleep in front of the television.

I am not partial to physical exercise.

Sometimes I talk too much.

I have far too many interests and I am lousy at time management.

7 Nominees

Not an easy job, I can tell you! I follow quite  a few bloggers whom I appreciate very much (as you can see in my blog roll), I have noticed with some relief and gratitude that my friends from PBAU have been nominated before and I did not include any food bloggers today.

You have all touched me in some ways during this year, we have connected beyond your blogs – thank you!

Carolyn Nicander Mohr

YOUR TURN NOW!

This is a gesture of my appreciation

and a way to say THANK YOU!

Thank you very much for giving me this award, Barbara. It truly means so much, especially coming from you. I will try to live up to the honor you have bestowed upon me. I am certainly in good company, you selected truly amazing bloggers for your awards!

    Happy holidays to you, Barbara!

    1. @wonderoftech And a sunny day to you, Carolyn! You make me feel all warm and glowing on a grey and bitter cold day – thank you so much. New heights in 2013: I have not thought about it yet, as you know I am not one for big resolutions but you are right: upward is the intended direction, with focus on writing and polish that voice I am still hiding.

Although I am not commenting that much these days, I read your posts and appreciate all the good information and tips, your generosity, sense of humour and kindness.

      Happy holidays, Carolyn!

    1. @Lynn OConnell Hi, Lynn, welcome to Late Bloomers, there is always a seat at the table and a cup or glass ready for you!

Have a wonderful weekend (is it already the third last of 2012?) and happy holidays!

  2. You are definitely inspiring, Barbara!  Congratulations. And I am so honored to be among the wonderful nominees! So delighted! Hugs!

Your 7 favorite phrases could very well be mine! 🙂 Bear hugs!

    1. @Vidya Sury Ah, dear Vidya, this is what I love about our world: you convey this feeling of happiness and light – thank you so much!

I am looking forward to read your 7 phrases with a sense of recognition and of course those unknown facts about you … 😉 big bear hugs!

  3. I know everyone on your nominees list! Yippeeee!!!

Looks like we are so dissimilar and yet so similar! I don’t fall asleep in front of the TV but I am addicted to coffee and I tend to talk too much at times!

    1. @Hajra  Hi Hajra! We know a lovely bunch of great people!

I am off to my last winter market today: it is cold and raining, I am in for a challenging day! How did your last exam go?

And I do not own a pair of socks with hearts but they are very pretty!

      1. @Late_Bloomers Went well, off for the winter break now (yes, we have winters, we call it winters!) Its cloudy here but the sun manages to peek at us now and then! 🙂

        Its pleasant!

        1. @Hajra  When you say “it went well” this will probably translate into “you did marvellous” – so happy for you!

We had ghastly weather yesterday, heavy rains which even our tent could not protect us from and which ruined my pretty labels and then gusts of wind which tried to lift up our tent – horrible!

  4. Congratulations to you my dear friend, and thank you so much for the honour 🙂 Many of the phrases you note are dear to my heart, and your expression of appreciation even dearer. Thank you so much. Hugs, Reine du Printemps

    1. @KDillabough And a lovely good morning to you, my dear friend! I love Friday, 13th and look upon them as happy days to be remembered.

Why is the sun shining today and yesterday it hid and the sky (or who- or whatever is responsible) gifted us with rains and wind and this on my last outdoor winter market this year?

Wishing you a sunny and snowy Sunday (SSS) and am thinking of pine needle fragrance permeating your house …

    1. @rdopping Hi, Ralph! How are you doing these days? It is about time for a visit to your place, I have my last event today in 2012 and then I can catch up, or so I think … Happy I made your week! And now go and do something mischievous today!

  5. Ooh! Do tell, Barbara! What would a “trashy novel” be? =) Talk about inspiring! All your phrases are such memorable and uplifting ones. Thanks for sharing those to light up my day and congratulations on an award that you so deserve!! =) Hugs!

    1. @Samantha Bangayan Two feet taller now – thank you so much, my dear friend Sam!

You really want to know about the trashy novels? I hope I am not offending anybody if I list some of the authors: Georgette Heyer, Sandra Brown,  I used to read all the Heyer novels, it was like entering a new world and feel completely swallowed up by it, and of course I would identify with the heroines, from poor shy girl to emancipated woman who would dare to stand up to a very dominating man and “tame” him. Argh …

You light up my day with your lovely presence and very uplifting compliments! May it come back to you threefold!

      1. @Late_Bloomers Ooh! I love book and author recommendations. Thanks, Barbara! =) Sounds like books I’ll love. I used to be so into fantasy romance, but I don’t even remember the authors anymore. =P

Thanks for all the positivity, friend! =) Hugs!

    1. @jpage.manuel Hi Joy! Cannot believe I sat in front of my laptop at first and thought I could never come up with 7 phrases! And the Happy or Right is quite a tough one, especially since I used to always want to be right and got into arguments on absolutely nothing. Thanks!

    1. @JanineRipper Thank you so much, Janine, close to midnight in your parts of the world and the New Year will be knocking at your door right now and beg to be invited in: thank you for your friendship and  may you have the best and happiest of all years!
