Smoothies are a great way to start your day, they contain vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and proteins. You can use up your fruit or vegetable and there is no limit to your imagination: spice them up with seeds, nuts, herbs and spices!

I use seasonal and regional produce, in winter it will be apples, pears, oranges and bananas, kale and other cabbage varieties, spinach, carrots, celery, basil, ginger etc.

In summer I will lighten my smoothies with yogurt, add some cereals to them and you will have a full breakfast.

When I got up this morning we had the most beautiful sunrise:

Time to make my smoothie – here we go:

Sunday Sunrise Smoothie With Kale

Yield: ca. 7.5 dl

Ingredients
3 dl tomato juice
2 oranges (juice)
1 banana
1 apple
1 pear
2 small leaves kale
4 cm ginger
1 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp sesame seeds (dry roasted)
some almonds
1 pinch ground cardamom
sea salt + pepper

Method
Let chia seeds soak in some juice first

Put all the ingredients in your mixer and puree โ€“ thatโ€™s it!

Add more juice or water to change the liquidity of your drink

Tips
Those smoothies contain a great deal of sugar: a glass of 2 dl is enough per day.

Deep freeze the rest in adequate jars, just think how much time and energy you save this way. I still have some Tupperware plastic cups with lids I have acquired years ago, they are perfect for freezing your smoothies.

Let it defrost for 12 hours in your fridge, it is best to take it out of the freezer the night before.

A smoothie a day keeps the doctor away and strengthens my immune system.

Wellbeing in Winter

I think it is important to take special care of your health and wellbeing in winter. I try to eat as healthily as possible and I get a lot of physical exercise with Roco, my German boxer and Frenchie mix:

In the colder months I use my own fragrance composition Sheer Air, made of essential oils, in a diffuser lamp or electrical diffuser. I love the exquisite perfume of lavender, cedar and myrtle; it has a soothing mood effect. When I have a cold I put a few drops in a pot of hot water and inhale the fumes or enjoy a warm bath with Sheer Air fragrance in it.

  2. Definitely one to try. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I have made hundreds of smoothies in my time, but I’ve never made one with that set of ingredients.

I’ve been using your Sheer Air candle and essential oils for about a week now and it’s made a real difference to my mood and ability to breathe through my nose โ˜บ

Hi Kittie, thanks for stopping by. Have we not made smoothies for ages, except we did not know their proper name ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am glad that my essential oil composition makes your life easier, I am currently checking out some electrical diffuser that will run with intervals and would be perfect to use in your bedroom at night.

Roco always gives his best, a lapdog inside and a fire rocket outside, thanks Tandy. Smoothies are great when consumed in moderation, I do not believe in them substituting for a healthy meal; yeah, the texture of chia seeds is quite interesting!

My, aren’t we posh, your ladyship! Lol, Keri, those smoothies are fun and great for using up bits and pieces of fruit and vegetable – I think I am turning into a waste not want not person!
