A Day in the Life of … Going Artsy
Do you like art? Yes, then let me introduce you to my friend, Lilian Andrée Dietlin. She has successfully run her Galerie Lilian Andrée for 30 years. Her exquisite gallery is close to the famous Fondation Beyeler in Riehen, a suburb of Basel.
When you are in Basel, make sure to drop in and say hello. And let yourself be seduced by the wonderful artwork of her artists. She is also a generous hostess and will spoil you with a glass of crémant and some delicious Gugelhopf with olives.
She works closely and supportively together with her artists from mainly France, Germany and Switzerland. Amongst others the gallery has also shown exhibits by famous and renown artists such as Henry Moore, Pablo Picasso, Sam Francis and Francis Bacon.
Her current exhibition (August 18 – September 22, 2013) features two artists: Adrian Bütikofer, sculptor, who works with wood, subjecting it first to fire, thus eliminating all mechanical traces and letting the form appear like naturally grown (German text by Christian Härtel, translation by yours truly).
What filigree beauty!
Kathrin Spring fascinates with her paintings exuding a meditative calmness. She works with natural colours gained from plants and bark. This is a very delicate task as natural colours never are the same and therefore only limitedly reproducible. They are subject to seasons, locations and phases of the moon.
